How it works
You book the window. We bring the charge.
VoltRunner EV is scheduled mobile charging in Los Angeles County. Here's exactly what happens, from sign-up to a charged car.
Step 1: Set up once
Add your car (make, model and year tell us which connector to bring), where it's parked overnight, and access notes such as a parking spot or gate code. Gate codes are stored encrypted.
Step 2: Book a window
Choose a day and an arrival window. Stride members get a 2-hour window, Tempo 1 hour, Marathon 30 minutes plus a standing weekly slot. Windows on routes we already run fill first, which is how we keep prices down.
Step 3: Get a reminder
The evening before, we text you with a link to reschedule if your plans changed. Rescheduling or cancelling is free up to 2 hours before your window.
Step 4: Track your Runner
When your Runner sets off, you get a text with a live map, an ETA that updates every minute, their first name and photo, and the van's plate. Tracking links work without logging in and expire 2 hours after the charge.
Step 5: The charge
Your Runner photographs the car, connects, and charges up to 40 kWh (about 120+ miles for most EVs). If your charge port only opens from the car's app, we text you to open it when they arrive.
Step 6: Done
You get the energy added, estimated miles, a photo and a receipt by email and text. The next day we ask for a one-tap rating.
What we need from you
A reachable parking spot
Street, driveway, carport or garage we can get the van near. Tell us about gates, levels and height limits.
An open charge port
Most ports open by hand. Some only open from the car's app; we'll text you when your Runner arrives.
The right connector
Your vehicle profile tells us. Runners carry NACS, CCS1, J1772, CHAdeMO.
What we don't do
We're not roadside rescue. Every charge is scheduled, which lets us plan dense routes and keep prices down. If you're stranded, call your roadside assistance provider.
